Ribeira Grande, Jan 7 (Inforpress) – A couple from Ribeira Grande living in Brazil, Valter Fortes and Gisele Lopes, launched a clothing brand, called “Criolada”, inspired by Cabo Verdean culture.
“Nha Origem” (my origin) is the name of the first collection of prints and bright colors that according to Gisele Lopes refers to the “land and roots” of Cabo Verde.
Gisele Lopes explained to Inforpress that in this first collection five pieces were released and each one has a very strong symbolism in the culture of each island.
“We have a priest collar shirt that is fully printed, which we called ‘nha bandeira’ (my flag). We also have a ‘body’ that we call ‘morabeza’, we have a hooded coat we call ‘mountain’ and another coat of various colors that we call Brava. We still have masks and socks with our print and logo,” said Gisele Lopes.
