Assomada, Jul 31 (Inforpress) – The mayor of Santa Catarina admitted that many families in this municipality in the countryside of Santiago live in a “very precarious housing” situation and asked the Government for support to resolve such situations.
José Alves Fernandes made this request Thursday during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister and of Regional Integration, Rui Figueiredo Soares, in the scope of the ruler’s visit to the countryside of Santiago Island to learn about the works in progress, as well as the Municipal Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEMDS) and to collect subsidies for the debate on the State of the Nation that takes place this Friday in Parliament.
“From the axes of our PEMDS – 2030 we have social housing as a priority, for the sake of dignity, but also of housing security. We have frequently seen families that live in a very precarious housing situation,” said the mayor of Santa Catarina.
However, he recalled that the City Hall has already rehabilitated many houses of families in that municipality, but, according to him, in a “slightly different” logic, that is, without exposing them in the media.
