Santa Catarina: Municipal Delegation of Ribeira da Barca reactivates Red Cross Volunteer Center

Assomada, May 4 (Inforpress) – The Municipal Delegation of Ribeira da Barca, in partnership with the Red Cross of Cabo Verde (CVCV), reactivated the CVCV Volunteer Center aiming to encourage volunteering in this fishing community at Santa Catarina, in the countryside of Santiago.

The information was provided today to Inforpress by the Delegate of the Municipal Delegation of Ribeira da Barca, José Avelino Monteiro, recalling that initially the idea was to create a local volunteer group, but that because of bureaucracies in the legalization of an NGO decided to join the CVCV, which is an organization recognized internationally.

And taking into account the locality once had a Red Cross Volunteer Center “ran away from bureaucracies” and reactivated it, he said.

The group, which already has 22 young people, 12 males and 10 females, as he said has already attended the first training in first aid in the theoretical aspect, missing the practical part to be carried out in the “coming months”.

“The promotion of volunteering makes a locality seen with other eyes, that is, in addition to asking and demanding from the public authorities, it will be making its contribution to the development of the community and municipality”, noted this responsible.
