São Filipe, June 21 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde’s first lady, Lígia Fonseca, will hold a dinner on Sunday, 24, in Praia City, to mobilize financial resources to rehabilitate the the EBI school in Cabeça Fundão, the most degraded in the municipality of Santa Catarina.
The mayor of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Alberto Nunes, who is going to participate in the dinner, said that the first lady and some national MPs are involved in collecting more than two million escudos (2.2 million escudos), to rehabilitate the school in Cabeça Fundão that is the most degraded.
The idea of mobilizing resources came from the first lady, who, at the beginning of June, during the International Children’s Day commemoration visited the school, which does not meet the conditions for its functioning with the dignity that children deserve.
The requalification, according to the mayor, involves replacing the roof with the removal of the tile and laying of concrete, construction of another classroom, a kitchen and a small warehouse and the requalification of the courtyard for the practice of physical activity. The project also provides the distribution of school kits to each of the 30 EBI students.
