Sal: Specialized Commission makes a list of the island’s problems highlighting critical points that deserve to be analyzed

Asparagus, Oct 23 (Inforpress) – The Specialized Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights, Security and State Reform makes a list of Sal’s problems in justice, considering that there are “critical points” that deserve to be addressed.

The Specialized Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights, Security and State Reform, led by Joana Rosa, made these remarks as part of the preparation of the debate on the state of justice, which is due to take place next week. PAICV (opposition party) and MpD (ruling party), scheduled a three-day visit to Sal and Boa Vista for contacts with institutions linked to the justice area, but had to suspend work in Sal, due to the death of the deputy minister of the Prime Minister for Regional Integration, Julio Herbert.

However, being already on the island, they accelerated the agenda, having on this single day of work met with the Mayor of Sal, the judges of the District Court, and heads of the Regional Prison.

According to Joana Rosa, chairman of the commission, Sal is an island with “some complexity” in relation to the types of crimes, given its specificity, as tourism development brings economic offenses, money laundering, the issue of drug trafficking, among others concerns, namely the “high rate”, as she said, of sexual rape to minors, along with phenomena that also have to do with trafficking in persons.
