Santa Maria, Oct 16 (Inforpress) – The new Health Center in Santa Maria, Sal island, started its activities on Thursday, providing users with primary and emergency services 24 hours a day, said the Health delegate of Sal, José Rui Moreira.
According to the Health delegate, infrastructure partly financed by the Tourism Fund, and in the framework of cooperation with the Belgian Government, it opened its doors with a team of four doctors and eight nurses, in addition to the administrative team, ensuring that, soon, it will be reinforced with more employees to ensure health services and health prevention.
“In terms of human resources, we have increased the number and we will continue to receive, but we have to be aware that this is a center dedicated to primary services, so it will basically have general practitioners, to follow up on routine consultations, but also to follow chronically ill patients, guarantee vaccination, pregnancy, as well as health inspection and immunization, among other specific aspects ”, he explained.
The official clarified, however, that given the fact that it is a tourist city and far from the central hospital, with a “population ratio already quite considerable” it will have other benefits.
