Santa Maria, Sal Island, Sep 14 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, presides this Wednesday the opening of the 9th Conference on Climate and Development in Africa, which takes place in Sal under the theme “A Fair Transition to a Green Recovery and Blue Resilient.
According to a Government note sent to Inforpress, the 9th Conference on Climate and Development in Africa (CCDA), runs until Friday, the 17th, in hybrid format (presential and virtual), for reasons of health security, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
In addition to the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly, several members from the Government of Cabo Verde are expected in the Sal Island, including the Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, the Minister of the Sea, Paulo Veiga, and about two dozen African ministers, who participate in person and virtually”, reads the note which meanwhile informs that there are more than a thousand people who will participate in the thematic panels.
According to the same document, the conference will focus on the recovery of the “triple burden” currently suffered by African countries, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and socio-economic impact.”
According to the Government they also intend to discuss “solutions to promote green and blue growth in a resilient, environmentally friendly and climate-sensitive way.”
