Sal Island: Two Chinese and one Cabo Verdean have been charged of human trafficking are under TIR

Espargos, Oct 30 (Inforpress) – Two Chinese and one Cabo Verdean woman detained last weekend by the Judiciary Police in Sal Island, who were present at the court on Monday, charged of human trafficking, are under Statement of Identity and Residence (TIR).

Charged of repeated practice of humans trafficking crime for labor exploitation and forced labor, the Judiciary Police, through the Department of Criminal Investigation of Sal (DICS), made the arrest out of flagrante delicto, in compliance with a public prosecutor warrant arrest.

Inforpress found that individuals between the ages of 29 and 40, about a year ago, instigated the four victims, two males and two females, aged between 16 and 30, to come and work in Cabo Verde, where they would have a better life, but this did not happen.

According to the same source, during the time they are here, their passports were confiscated, they had been working in difficult conditions, without salary and sleeping in warehouses of the Chinese stores.
