Santa Maria, 02 Oct (Inforpress) – The Meliá Dunas Resort and Odjo d’Água Hotel on Sal Island were the winners of the award ceremony night of the “Cabo Verde Awards Tourism” witnessed by the minister of Economy José Gonçalves.
Most of the “Oscars” of the first edition of the “CaboVerde Tourism Awards”, aimed at distinguishing projects and initiatives that have contributed to the strengthening of competitiveness and improvement of the destination’s tourism offer were for these two local economic operators, the Meliá Dunas Beach Resort & Spa group has won nine distinctions against three of the Odjo d’Agua Hotel, of the 18 categories, in the various areas in which the tourism sector works.
Still in the category Excellence Tourist Region, the Sal island was consecrated as the best tourist destination of Cabo Verde, having been awarded a gold medal in this item.
The “Cabo Verde Awards Tourism” competition, which awards and celebrates excellence in several areas of tourism, from hotel to travel agency, has also selected other nominees and winners through a jury composed of five members, led by Sérgio Sequeira, director of the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Cabo Verde.
Thus, at Excellence Aparthotel, “Porto Antigo” carries bronze medal, while silver and gold go to Melia Dunas and Melia Tortuga, respectively.
