Espargos, Aug 11 (Inforpress) – Civil society organizations and decentralized government services on the Sal island met today at the Chã de Matias Association, aimed at implementing the local network to prevent and combat sexual exploitation and abuse of children and adolescents.
According to Arminda Lopes, vice president of the Chã de Matias Association, the purpose of this initiative, part of an initiative from the Association of Disadvantaged Children (ACRIDES), is to reinforce the Government’s action plan for child and adolescent protection at the national level, especially in this area of sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
“This meeting will allow the creation of this network and together we work to make this protection more serious. Taking into account the record in Cabo Verde, as a civil society we can not sit idly by because each one plays an important role in protecting children and adolescents, future generation of men and women,” she said.
As for the situation on the island in this matter, Arlinda Lopes said that evaluating the numbers is not alarming, but a case that is is cause for concern.
