Sal Island: Nurses call for greater respect and dignity to nurses professionals – Head Nurse

Espargos, May 12 (Inforpress) – The Head Nurse at the Health Center in Sal, Cláudia Andrade, advocates greater attention and dignity to nurses professionals, which as she said goes through “countless” situations and difficulties, which in no way honor the role of the nurse as such.

Cláudia Silva spoke in statements to Inforpress, on the occasion of the International Nurses Day that is celebrated annually today , under the theme “Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health”.

According to the Head Nurse, the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has awakened about the importance of the nurses, increasingly, on its role in society, and how to deal with adverse and unpredictable situations.

“The triggering of the pandemic was a moment of great exhaustion, fear… but that helped health professionals to qualify, to train themselves, and to know how to deal with situations never imagined, unpredictable. Now the situation is softer, and we have learned a lot,” she said. Cláudia Andrade regrets, however, the fact that many nurses recruited to help, responding to the demands of COVID-19, have been called as “nurses of COVID”.
