Sal Island: It is necessary to think about the adequacy of the infrastructure to the number of tourists that are “spreading” – PAICV

Espargos, Aug 23 (Inforpress) – The PAICV’s leader  (opposition party) defended this Thursday, in Sal Island, where she ended a working visit, the need to be considered on the adequacy of infrastructures in general, to the number of tourists that are “spreading”.

“We cannot foresee the increase in the number of tourists and the contribution that tourism is making to the country’s growth without thinking of adapting the infrastructure of education, health, water and energy (…) to the need that the growth of population imposes ”, underlined Janira Hoppfer Almada, considering that all this must be planned.

“We cannot just have the goal of increasing tourists. We must have the goal of guaranteeing the sustainability of tourism, on the one hand, and competitiveness,  but without ever forgetting that any sector to be developed must first ensure the improvement of Cabo Verdean life,” she said.

Janira Hoppfer Almada, who booked Thursday to visit the hospital and the Alto Santa Cruz neighborhood, as regards health on the island, said it is not enough to build physically, but also institutionally.
