Sal Island: Inactive and in advanced state of degradation the former Aeroflot Hotel serves as shelter to more than 200 people

Santa Maria, June 9 (Inforpress) – The former Aeroflot Hotel at city of Santa Maria, Sal Island, now serves as a shelter for more than two hundred people who invaded the emblematic hotel establishment, which was inactive for about seven years and advanced state of degradation.

Closed in December 2010, during the “Cabocampo” company management for maintenance for a period of two months it never opened its doors again, leaving about 23 employees unemployed, without remuneration for the years of services rendered, and the judicial proceding still in the court.

After seven years of inactivity and degrade even more, the hotel has been invaded for some time by citizens, both national and the African community based in Sal, “living” there, today without water, power and to fall from old.

Lamenting the situation, Mário Correia, president of the Trade Union of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (SICOTUR), representing the workers, who was trustee  the hotel, clarified in declarations to Inforpress that in 2014 made the delivery of the hotel business, still in “good state of repair, and with almost everything in place.”
