Espargos, Jun 24 (Inforpress) – The president of the High Authority for Immigration highlighted this Thursday in Sal, the importance of installing a local representation, since foreigners represent about 4 percent of the total population, higher than the national average.
Carmem Barros made this comparison at the inauguration of the Local Immigration Unit, which will operate, from this Thursday, at the premises of the Sport Center, in the city of Espargos.
Witnessed by the Minister of Family and Social Inclusion, the unit aims to provide an integrated service, based on the trace and identification of needs and the adequacy of responses, inform immigrants on their rights and duties, among other obligations.
“Sal is one of the municipalities that receives most foreign immigrants in Cabo Verde. Official statistics tell us that foreigners represent about 4 percent of the total population of Sal, higher than the national average, which is 3 percent,” said Carmem Barros, noting that in addition to statistics, the reality of immigration in Sal is “visible, and dynamic.”
