Sal Island: City Hall  promotes clean-up campaign on beaches to remove waste from ocean currents

Espargos, May 21 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of Sal this Saturday promotes a clean-up campaign on the different beaches in the island, to remove thick waste from the ocean currents, as part of the International Day for Biological Diversity, celebrated today, May 20.

During the first day period of Saturday, from 8:00AM to 12:00PM the participants in the campaign, involving citizens and other partners will remove thick waste that arrive in the beaches of Calhetinha, Água Doce and Fiura through the ocean currents, also by activities carried out by the citizens.

However, the coordinator of Public Cleaning Services, Canine Management and Operational Affairs, Carlos Xavier, explained in statements to Inforpress that 99 percent (%) from other stops through the currents.

According to this responsible, the activity carried out in the framework of the International Day for Biological Diversity, aims to raise awareness, environmental citizenship, since all are called to practice, the duty of environment preservation.
