Sal Island: City Hall and ICIEG analyze the possibility of creating a shelter center on the island

Espargos, Jan 27 (Inforpress) – The City Hall of Sal and the Cabo Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG) are analyzing the possibility of creating a shelter center for vulnerable children and victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV).

This idea was suggested Tuesday, by the councilor for Cohesion and Social Inclusion, Jocelino Cardoso, on the sidelines of the training course opening in the ​​care area for the elderly and people with disabilities, promoted by ICIEG, which was attended the president of the institute, Rosana Almeida.

This training course aimed at 18 women in the Sal Island is in partnership with the Directorate-General for Social Inclusion, the City Hall of Sal and the local Red Cross.

Regarding the intention of creating the shelter center, Jocelino Cardoso explained that the City Hall, in the framework of “good partnership”, wants, together with ICIEG to “move forward” with this project with a view to protection and care, especially for women victims of GBV.
