Sal: ICCA coordinator defends severe punishment for crimes of rape against children

Espargos, June 22 (Inforpress) – The ICCA coordinator in Sal today defended a severe punishment for crimes of rape against children, during the presentation of the diagnostic study on the “Profile of those convicted of sexual offenses against children: To know for the better action”.

“This is a crime in which the struggle for punishment must be swift and severe. The fight for its eradication shall be constant counting on the union and participation of all,” defended Queila Soares.

According to the official, rape and sexual abuse against children continue to be a problem that has received extreme attention from intervention agents in the area, not because there are “more cases” in relation to other types of violation of children’s rights, but because it is one of the worst forms of violation of children’s rights.

“It takes a child to experience forced, unknown, strange, painful and traumatic experiences when they take advantage of their vulnerability and immaturity to gain sexual pleasure,” she said.
