Espargos, Aug 3 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde Empresas (CVE) expressed concern on Tuesday about the intention of tour operators in the Algarve, Portugal, to hire 2.500 Cabo Verdeans young, to respond to “the growing and current” need for labour to the sector in that region.
The concern was exposed through a press release, to which Inforpress had access, where the association’s president, Andrea Benolli questions whether Cabo Verde is a “nursery” for labour to the Algarve.
“It seems that the Government of Cabo Verde has also agreed with the Portuguese Government, special procedures for obtaining a visa quickly and without too much bureaucracy… a red carpet that will allow foreign tour operators to arrive, choose, buy, export the know-how of our employees, with much applause for the excellent initiative”, he caustically observed.
According to the same source, the Government invested together with cooperation and “indebted the country” to use funds from the World Bank and other international organizations, to finance investment in infrastructure and training programs for Young People, Cabo Verdeans men and women, so that they can obtain a professional qualification, “and even have” a Professional Card to certify technical competence and gives access to the labour market.
