Praia, Nov 15 (Inforpress) – The International S.O.S. Cuba Movement in Cabo Verde promotes a peaceful demonstration in Praia on Monday to ask the Cuban Government to respect human rights, freedom of expression and democratization of the country.
Speaking to Inforpress, Yanira Monteiro, a member of the Movement, explained that the manifesto also has the support of a group of Cabo Verdeans and will take place in more than 120 cities around the world in support of a national demonstration that will take place in Cuba.
“This peaceful demonstration is to demand and request the respect for human rights, freedom of expression, demonstration and freedom of all political prisoners, and today more than 1020 political prisoners are recognized by international organizations,” she said.
As she said, the national demonstration in Cuba is being promoted by the online platform Archipielago and was scheduled to take place on 20 this month, but in response, the Cuban Government declared this day as National Defense Day and began military preparations to prevent people to go out to the streets on this day.
