Romania available to co-operate with Cabo Verde on emergency management and food security

City of Praia, 20 Nov (Inforpress) – The President of Romania, Klaus Werner Iohannis, today expressed his country’s interest in intensifying cooperation with Cape Verde in the areas of emergency situation management, combating climate change, agriculture and food security.

The Romanian head of state was speaking in a joint statement with his Cape Verdean counterpart, José Maria Neves, after a face-to-face and the ceremony honouring him with the First Degree of the Amílcar Cabral Order, as part of the official visit he began today to the archipelago.

Klaus Werner Iohannis emphasised that the relationship between Cabo Verde and Romania, established five decades ago, has lasted, first and foremost, thanks to human ties.  At the same time, he emphasised that Cabo Verde, like Romania, respects democratic values.

“I presented to President Neves with our new strategic approach to relations with Africa, based on a new national strategy, based on common interests and values,” he emphasised.
