Ribeira Grande, Aug 6 (Inforpress) – The Ribeira Grande Health Station (DSRG), Santo Antão, ‘socialized’ this Thursday the marketing code for breast milk substitutes with health professionals from that unit.
According to the health delegate, Florentina Lima, the activity aims to influence the empowerment of health professionals to be prepared and trained when they met some illegal situation in the marketing the breast milk substitute.
“The need always for supervision to be able to comply with the code. There are babies who can not breastfeed, but can receive a milk that is stipulated in the legislation and the packaging has to say that the best food for the lactating is breast milk”, stressed the doctor.
Florentina Lima recalled that the consumption of breast milk substitutes has “risks”, because babies who take them can develop gastrointestinal problems and allergies and also in adulthood can develop other diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol problems and obesity.
