Praia, Sep 14 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde now has 60 field epidemiologists, who will work on the front line to respond to emergency situations related to public health, after training 15 more professionals.
This information was announced Tuesday by the president of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), within the framework of the 1st Scientific Meeting on Field Epidemiology in Cabo Verde – EpiCV, started today and with two days duration.
According to Maria da Luz Lima, field epidemiologists are professionals who work in all areas of health, both human and animal, and environmental, and who are at the forefront in health responses, especially related to public health emergency and other situations of disease or determinants of health.
The training program in field epidemiology has been implemented in Cabo Verde since June 2021, and in the course of this meeting, 15 more health professionals will finish the training, she said.
