Praia, Nov 14 (Inforpress) – Cases of prostate cancer in Cabo Verde have increased “considerably” and, according to the 2015 data, there are more deaths from prostate cancer than breast cancer itself and cervix.
The information was released today by the urologist doctor Sidónio Monteiro, who made it clear that prostate cancer is becoming the leading cause of cancer death in Cabo Verde.
Sidónio Monteiro, who spoke as a member of the Cabo Verdean Association for the Fight Against Cancer (ACLCC) in the framework of the Blue November, stressed that the prevention of prostate cancer is fundamentally in the early diagnosis.
“There is usually talk of prevention and people have a tendency to think about how to avoid the disease, but here I would like to emphasize the aspect that has to do with early diagnosis,” he said, indicating that prostate cancer diagnosed in time is 100% curable.
