Programme for mitigating the bad agricultural year already under implementation on all islands – Director

Praia, Jan 10 (Inforpress) – The Director General of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock today assured that the program to mitigate the effects of the bad agricultural year, approved by the Government in October 2021, is already being implemented as planned.

Eneida Rodrigues gave this information to Inforpress, stating that the plan is a continuity, because “unfortunately” since 2017, the country has faced the lack of rain and drought, a situation the Government has been “circumventing” through the implementation of various programs to mitigate the effects of the bad agricultural year.

“The program aimed at strengthening resilience and improving the lives of farmers and livestock farmers in rural areas has been implemented, along with other programs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment,” she said.

According to her, in addition to funding through the emergency fund, the program is complemented by other projects already underway and others are starting, notably under the Rural Socio-Economic Opportunities Promotion Program (POSER) and the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANAS).
