Presidential / Portugal: Adherence of voters to the Portuguese embassy in Cabo Verde surpassed all previous elections

Praia, Jan 25 (Inforpress) – The electoral process at the polling station of the Embassy of Portugal in Praia for the elections of the President of the Republic of Portugal broke the record of turnout in all previous elections.

This information was revealed to Inforpress on Sunday night by the Secretary of the Embassy and in charge of the Consular Section of Portugal in Cabo Verde, Tiago de Brito Penedo, claiming that the voting went smoothly.

“It is possible to circulate freely here, the weather conditions are different, which may have motivated voters to come to the polls”, he clarified, stressing that in this ballot all the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic were respected and all indications from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) are respected.

In Cabo Verde there were two polling stations, one in Praia with around 2.400 voters, of which 300 are from Sal Island and the other one in Mindelo with around 1.300 registered voters.
