Praia, Oct 18 (Inforpress) – The president of the African Union observer mission, Ismael Martins, “positively” evaluated the electoral process in Cabo Verde, highlighting the Cabo Verdeans civic behaviour in these presidential elections.
Ismael Martins made this statement to Inforpress, in an analysis of the presidential elections, expressing that the process was well conducted, with “clear rules and a lot of organization” both at the polling stations and in the electorate.
“It is a good sign is given to Cabo Verdean society, which is given to Africa, showing that of course it is possible to make governance that is inclusive, that is responsible and can help African countries to get out of the COVID-19 crisis,” he said.
On the other hand, he highlighted the Cabo Verdeans civic behaviour in these elections, explaining that it is “important” the population be educated and know their role. However, he referred to the “high number of abstentions”, an aspect should be worked on to make people participate and believe more in this need.
