Praia, Mar 6 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, greeted “with emotion” the agreement reached at the United Nations for the protection of the high seas, stressing that this is “a great gain” for Humanity.
“I welcome, with emotion, the Agreement for the Protection of the High Seas, reached at the United Nations, after 15 years of intense negotiations”, wrote the head of state in a publication, on Sunday, 05, on his official Facebook page.
Neves also said that from the very beginning, Cape Verde, as an oceanic State, “vehemently supported and helped to build” this possibility.
“Marine resources are thus much better protected. A great gain for humanity. We can, with this scintillating agreement, protect more widely this important common heritage that is the sea”, he continued.
