Nova Sintra, Nov 28 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, considered that Brava Island needs the conditions for a “true restoration”, in order not “to stay just talking in its potentialities”.
The head of State made these statements to the press at the end of the first day of the visit to Brava Island, and said that the island has “many potentialities,” but deserves a “different attention and look” from the public authorities.
“It is an island that needs to be restored and for that some dimensions need to be taken into account by the public authorities,” said Jorge Carlos Fonseca, adding that it is an island that still suffers with the decrease in the population, something he considers “worrying” phenomenon.
Also, he stressed, it is an island with “great potential” for rural tourism, housing or even health, but has conditions that if not overcome, the idea of development can be “frustrated”.
