President of the Republic hopes that the debate on the State of the Nation will be “high and well-founded”

Praia, Jul 27 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, said today he hoped that the debate on the State of the Nation, this Friday, in Parliament, will be “high and well-founded”.

The important thing, the Head of State stressed, is that, at the end of this debate, there would be a convergence for action, given that Cabo Verde is in a “difficult context”. “At this moment, we need, more than ever, understandings about strategies, the ways to overcome the crisis,” Neves said in a statement to Radio of Cabo Verde (RCV).

For him, there are many people living in difficulties, and poverty has increased, as well as social inequalities. According to the President of the Republic, companies are in difficulty and Cabo Verdean workers go through “difficult times”, given the loss of purchasing power.

In his view, in view of the situation that the country is going through, it is “fundamental” that political actors are up to the moment. “It’s not just time for political rhetoric and for the exchange of accusations.

It is time to discuss yes, from our differences, and be able to converge on solutions to face the immesity of the crisis we are living in”, concluded José Maria Neves.
