President of the Republic argues that the National Independence “it was worthwhile”

Praia, Jul 6  (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, defended, in the city of Praia, the National Independence “it was worthwhile” and the 46 years of independent Cabo Verde has been of great “struggle, tenacity and ambition”.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, after the deposition of the wreath at the Amílcar Cabral Memorial, Jorge Carlos Fonseca stated that during these years the country “grew in all areas, giving everyone the notion it was worth fighting for National Independence.”

“On this path we were born to the world as a sovereign and independent country, built the foundations of State, fought and conquered democracy and built a democratic rule of law,” he noted.

The nation’s highest magistrate added, on the other hand, that in this pandemic context, the country is fighting “hard” to resume the paths of development, “so as to provide all Cabo Verdeans with conditions of material and spiritual well-being.”
