Praia, Feb 22 (Inforpress) – The president of the Museum of Education, Clara Marques, launched Friday a challenge to all political parties so that in the next legislature the officialization of the Cabo Verdean language and its teaching in schools is a priority.

“I leave a challenge to create pedagogical, material and didactic conditions in the next legislature it is one of the government’s priorities to make everything the Cabo Verdean language is made official, to be taught in schools, with pedagogical, material and didactic conditions be created, so that we can really begin to have parity between the Cabo Verdean language and the Portuguese language”, challenged Clara Marques.

Clara Marques spoke in statements to Inforpress, as part of a lecture “Mother Tongue: What do we want? What can we do?”, held by the Museum of Education and intended for students and teachers from the “Conego Jacinto” High School.

This lecture, which serves to commemorate Mother Tongue Day, which is marked on the 21st, is, according to the same source, a way of making students aware of the mother tongue and reflecting on the journey taken from 1978 to today.
