Praia, Jul 13 (Inforpress) – The president of the Court of Auditors (TC), João da Cruz Silva, stated Monday that the institution he heads faces the lack of staff auditors to meet the demand.
“At the moment, we have a small number of editors [37 active official] for more than 400 entities using public money,” said the TC’s presiding judge, adding that this number also includes private ones because, he pointed out, they use public money and, therefore, “are also controlled.”
The TC President made these remarks to the press on the sidelines of the conference on “Budgetary Transparency”, which took place through the digital platform, to celebrate the 107th anniversary of the establishment of this institution.
He acknowledged, however, the lack of auditors implies some delay in accountability, but this “does not mean impunity” because since he took office in 2018, they have managed to “substantially reduce pending cases.”
