Praia, Mar 21 (Inforpress) – The President of the CPLP, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, called on the presidents of ECOWAS and the African Union, respectively, to help the Mozambican authorities at this time of “great tragedy” for the country.
The Cabo Verdean head of state said he was “moved and worried” about the situation that Mozambique is experiencing at the moment, when the country was devastated by a tropical cyclone.
In a message addressed to his counterpart, Abdul Fatah Khalil Al-Sisi, President of Egypt and President of the African Union, the Cabo Verdean Head of State, acting chair of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), asked the AU to continue the “efforts already made” through aid already sent, and at the same time called for the “intensification” of diplomatic contacts with the governments of countries members of the continental organization to solidarity support for Mozambique.
Jorge Carlos Fonseca addressed another similar message to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, who is also the acting president of the Economic Community for the Development of West African States (ECOWAS), and requests solidarity support for Mozambique.
