Praia, Apr 26 (Inforpress) – The Presidency of the Republic promoted a roundtable in Praia this Thursday to raise awareness among children and youngsters to create a love for reading.
The event, which was attended by students from the High Schools of Praia, is part of the third Week of Reading, a presidential initiative to promote reading “Read more, learn more”, which runs from the 22nd to the 27th of this month.
For the first lady, Lígia Fonseca, the Presidency initiative has brought very important results in relation to the love of books and has aroused a certain willingness on the part of children, young people and adults, but the question of access and apprehension are one of the obstacles separating the Cabo Verdeans from the book.
“A lot of people are born with this love of books and no one needs to teach them to like it, but most of us need access to the book that is increasingly difficult today because there are other focuses of interest and others instruments namely the television, mobile phones the computers that keep children away from the book”, she said.
