Praia: National Stadium creates green space for recovered from COVID-19

Praia, Jun 3 (Inforpress) – The management of the National Stadium created a green space where each doctor, military or patient free from COVID-19 plant a fruit tree to mark the recovery from the illness and the consequent discharg from the hospital.

Speaking to Inforpress, the manager of that sports infrastructure, which is functioning as an institutional isolation space for patients, Orlandinho Mascarenhas, considered that it is a “symbol of hope and optimism” in the fight against this pandemic.

The intention is also to encourage, according to the official, “break the stigma” in relation to patients with COVID-19 and create a “positive and healthy message in the field hospital.

He informed that over the past four days, about 40 fruit trees have been planted and they have already received offers from the City Hall of Praia, the Santa Cruz Farmers’ Association and  commitments for donation from National Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (INIDA), as well as some private groups.
