Praia, May 29 (Inforpress) – The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Cabo Verde (ADEVIC) has implemented five tactile floors in Praia City to facilitate the movement and ensure the pedestrian safety of people with visual impairments or with low vision.
The reliefs implemented with the EU funding support under the project “Cabo Verde Will Best View the Blind” are working, according the president of ADEVIC, Marciano Monteiro, said to to Inforpress that in front of Caixa Economica in the neighborhood of Fazenda, INPS, post office and in the hospital area of Praia.
According to him, in order to locate the tactile floor, people with visual impairment must, through the sole of the shoes or tip of the cane detect the built relief, which informs them for example the approach of a crossing.
“These alerts are another tool for the independence of people with visual impairment so that they can move around without fear or asking for the support of others,” said Marciano Monteiro.
