Praia, Oct 28 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, received in audience the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, where they analyzed the national election timetable and the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Jorge Santos explained that the meeting served to analyze the last local elections on October 25, the election timetable and compliance with the legal framework regarding the scheduling of legislative and presidential elections.
The president of the parliamentary house also added that during the meeting they also had the opportunity to discuss and analyze the evolution of the new coronavirus pandemic at the national level, the issue of social isolation, the opening of beaches, the implementation of the new law for wearing masks and strengthening health measures.
On the other hand, he added, they spoke on the opening and the start of the new parliamentary year scheduled for this Wednesday with the debate on the situation of the impact of the sanitary, economic measures adopted by the Government in the scope of the fight against the COVID-19, and for Thursday the debate on the situation of justice is scheduled.
Jorge Santos revealed that the Council of the Republic will meet soon to consider possible dates for the scheduling legislative and presidential elections.
