Espargos, Dec 2 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, positively evaluates the signs of recovery in tourism, but fears an evolution of the pandemic which could lead to a new closing of borders.
“We have the recovery, according to the data we have about 50 percent (%) of occupation, we are thinking to reach 70/80% by the end of the year, which are very positive indicators. I hope the pandemic will not evolve in such a way as to lead to a new closure, particularly in Europe, which would hinder the recovery in Cabo Verde,” he said.
However, for the Cabo Verdean Head of State, the important thing is to continue working to ensure the vaccination of the population, since all immunized would be much more beneficial for the country, he stressed.
Expressing himself “greatly” concerned about the possibility of a new variant, José Maria Neves said that it is necessary to prepare, however, for this pandemic, for this disease, which all points “will last in time”, he stated.
