Post office announces VAT collection on exports to Europe

Praia, Sep 13 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verde Post Office (CCV) announced Monday that they will start charging VAT to goods exported to Europe, noting that in July 2021, VAT was updated on all goods exported to the European Union.

“VAT is therefore charged for all goods without exception, regardless of the value of the object and the date on which it was purchased. Therefore, the previous exemption from the payment of VAT up to EUR 22 on exports to Europe is revoked,” reads the note published on the internet.

The company also said that it will be mandatory to submit the commercial invoice for the process of customs clearance of goods sent by the post office.

In this sense, all postal service technicians will be instructed to, at the time of acceptance, verify that the object is a commodity and ask the sender to submit the commercial invoice to accompany it.
