Lisbon, Aug 31 (Inforpress) – Cape Verdean painter Tutu Sousa took part in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Monaco (Arte Fair2023), from 25 to 27 August, and his assessment is “positive”, feeling “enriched” by the contacts made on-site.
Speaking to Inforpress today in Lisbon before returning to Cape Verde, the painter explained that his participation in the fair, which took place at Espace Fontvieille, was only possible through the Atlas Violeta Association and curator Cristina Bernardini, who has been investing in his work since 2022, having already taken part in a fair in Dubai and others such as Barcelona and Paris.
“There were contacts with artists, gallerists and collectors from all over the world and when the feedback on my work is positive, the balance is more than positive, with exchanges of experiences with other artists that enrich my work more and more and that’s super important,” he said.
For the artist, when you come from a country where this area is “almost closed”, having an opportunity to export what you do, as well as learning from what comes from abroad, is “super satisfying”.
