Porto Novo: Water scarcity and lack of electricity are “burning problems” in the North Zone – MPs Members

Porto Novo, Nov 25 (Inforpress) – Water scarcity due to drought and power shortages are now the most burning problems in the northern area of Porto Novo, Santo Antão, according to MPs elected by the island.

However, these are concerns that will be resolved by mid-2020, thanks to the planned investments by the City Hall of Porto Novo to Planalto Norte, which exceed 75 million escudos.

The rulers of the ruling party elected by this island, who visited the upper areas of Porto Novo (southern and northern areas) on Saturday, explained that, thanks to the “No Kre Agua” (We want water) project, funded by the Government in 70 million, the water crisis affecting the Planalto Norte will, within eight months, be overcome.

In terms of electricity, the constraints affect, above all, the locality of Chã de Feijoal, due to technical problems in the local photovoltaic plant, installed in 2015. In this regard, the City Hall of Porto Novo has entered in its budget for 2020 a further five 1 million escudos for the reinforcement of the photovoltaic plant in Chã de Feijoal, one of several villages that make up the Planalto Norte.
