Porto Novo, Mar 16 (Inforpress) – The water supply for agriculture in the Covão area, in the Tarrafal de Monte Trigo, Porto Novo, Santo Antão, will be replaced later this Tuesday, said Graciano Évora, spokesman for the affected farmers.
There are more than 50 farmers who faced, a month ago, difficulties to irrigate their plots, due to the fall of wall, having accounted, throughout this period, “large losses” that according to the same source the problem will be solved “even today”, with the end of the work for the replacement of the pipeline.
For the reconstruction of the wall, farmers invested almost 400 thousand, having counted on “a cement support” from the City Hall of Porto Novo, according to farmers, who say “relieved” after facing “a complicated situation” marked by “enormous damage” in the crops of potatoes, cassava among others.
“We went through a very difficult situation, with significant losses,” said Analides Évora, one of the affected farmers, highlighting that the wall was rebuilt with the farmers’ own resources.
