Porto Novo, Apr 26 (Inforpress) – The Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries (MCIC) and the Tourism Fund, is mobilizing financial resources to support the resumption, this year, of the São João feasts in the municipality of Porto Novo.
This guarantee was given on Monday by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, during a visit to the municipality of Porto Novo for the delivery to four local personalities the second degree medal of cultural merit and signing of contracts with three local associations under the Funding for Access to Culture.
“We decided to finance the major national events that have the greatest weight in what is national programming. As we did in relation to the São Filipe feasts, the Government will, through the MCIC and the Tourism Fund, mobilize the necessary resources and will not fail to support the São João feasts in Porto Novo”, assured the Minister.
It will be “a modest contribution” due to “the context that the country is inserted”, but the Executive, according to Abraão Vicente, will not fail to support the City Hall of Porto Novo in the resumption of the patron saint festivities, classified in 2017 as National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
