Porto Novo hosts colloquium on alcoholism to evaluate implementation of alcohol law

Porto Novo, Dec 2 (Inforpress) – Alcoholism, its consequences and health protection is the subject of a colloquium to be held this Monday in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, which aims to evaluate the two months of implementation of the new alcohol law in this municipality.

The colloquium, the initiative of the Parliamentary Network for Population and Development, the Coordination Commission for Alcohol and Other Drugs (CCAD) and the Inspectorate General of Economic Activities, will discuss issues related to alcoholism in Santo Antão, alcohol abuse and the supervision of alcoholic beverages.

The event, which will be opened by the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, also has the organization of the Porto Novo City Council and the Ministry of Education and the support of the Presidency, through the campaign “Less alcohol, more life”.

Santo Antão has recently been receiving awareness-raising actions to prevent the use of alcohol and other drugs, as part of the reinforcement of prevention actions on psychoactive substance problems, promoted by CCAD, with the support of young people in recovery from this island, Paul’s Health Station and City Hall. Families, bar owners, vending companies are some of the groups covered by these awareness actions, which focus on the new alcohol law and the risks associated with abuse and misuse of alcohol and other drugs in the communities.
