Porto Novo: Foreign company resumes investments in fisheries after stoppage due to COVID-19

Porto Novo, Jul 27 (Inforpress) – Viking Seafood, a company that owns the Norwegian Geir Eriksen, which is investing in fisheries in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, resumes, as of this Monday, investments, which were four months ago, suspended because of COVID-19.

The company representative in Porto Novo, Denilson Fernandes, confirmed to Inforpress the resumption of investments, which consist of the requalification and operationalization of the fish processing unit, whose works started in late 2019.

Between the Viking Seafood company and the City Hall of Porto Novo there is a management and exploitation contract for the fish processing unit, within the scope of the Pelago Gourmet project, which aims at the processing of seafood.

Within the framework of an agreement signed between the two parties, this investor undertakes to extend, in two years, investments in fisheries in the municipality of Porto Novo, which can reach one billion escudos.

For now, investments in progress are estimated at 70 million escudos.
