Porto Novo, Apr 17 (Inforpress) – The Chã de Norte borehole in Porto Novo, Santo Antão, is again paralyzed due to a new malfunction, a situation that is affecting local farmers who already account for losses with some crops.
The farmer’s representative, Ivanildo Dias, confirmed to Inforpress the occurrence a week ago of a new malfunctioning in the pumping system at the Chã de Norte borehole, which is worrying the farmers, who already speak of losses of crops carrot, pumpkin and others.
The technicians are already on site and are expected to repair the malfunction “as soon as possible, to avoid what happened in 2018, when the same borehole was paralyzed for four months (August to November), causing “enormous damage” to about 50 farmers.
The Chã de Norte hole was equipped with a new pumping system capable of producing 26 cubic meters of water per hour and the photovoltaic system installed in 2015 was strengthened to produce water at lower costs.
