Porto Novo, Dec 28 (Inforpress) – The 20 farmers who have plots in Lajedinho, Porto Novo, Santo Antão, states they are “determined” to prevent armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) pest from enterin in this agricultural perimeter, which “it has everything to be successful”.
According to the farmers, the biggest concern at this time is to keep the perimeter free from this pest, which has plagued Santo Antão for over 40 years, so that Lajedinho can become “a great producer” of potatoes.
Domingos Dias, one of those farmers, believes that this agricultural area “has a future”, but it is necessary farmers are determined to keep it free from pests, namely the armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda).
This year’s rains ended up damaging many plots, which are now being recovered, but farmers are already starting to place the products on the market, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
