Porto Novo, Oct 5 (Inforpress) – Several farmers in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, account at the moment the “enormous damages” with the invasion of animals into their properties, and the “competent authorities” didn’t take measures to counteract the situation.
According to the farmers, the problem is most worried in some areas in the East Plateau, where several farmers, unable to stop the problem of invasion of the animals, eventually abandoned into their lands.
Bernardo Morais, one of these farmers, said that all the sowings he made in August during the rains in Santo Antão were already destroyed by animals, namely goats abandoned by livestock farmers.
“The losses are enormous. The goats have already destroyed the corn, beans and other crops,” said the farmer, who confirmed that he had abandoned his land near the Eastern Plateau due to the invasion of the animals.
