Porto Novo, Sep 21 (Inforpress) – Families from different communities in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, are currently distressed, given the state of their homes, which threaten to collapse at any time.
Many families have sought Inforpress to express their concern about the situation in which their homes were left after the last rains occurred throughout the county, a concern, also, already expressed by some local associations.
This is the case of the Community Association of Ribeira dos Bodes, which has already alerted municipal authorities to the reality of many families in this location, whose homes present “serious structural problems”, putting people’s lives at risk.
In the city of Porto Novo, many families, who were in greater danger, were rehoused during the rains, with at least two cases of dwellings to be highlighted, whose ceilings fell, without however causing greater harm to people.
The City Hall of Porto Novo, in the scope of the survey to evaluate the damage after rains, admitted that housing recovery is “one of the priorities” in this municipality, where it is estimated that about 3.000 families still live in “conditions very precarious ”.
