Porto Novo, April 24 (Inforpress) – Basic schools in the municipality of Porto Novo are currently receiving awareness on the issue of climate change and preservation of natural resources, in an initiative by the Association for the Defense of Heritage in Mértola (Portugal).
The campaign, which has already been to schools in Planalto Leste and Ribeira da Cruz, has focused mainly on the need to preserve the endemic flora of Santo Antão, an island that is the target of a project in this regard, initiated by the Association of Women of Planalto Leste (Amupal).
A statement from the promoters of the awareness campaign explains that “these activities serve as a complement to classes, but also aim to raise awareness among children about the causes and impacts of climate change.”
In the implementation of the project on the conservation of endemic flora, Amupal has the partnership of the agroforestry systems project of Santo Antão, promoted by Portuguese cooperation, with funding from the European Union.
